The Jets’ defense was expected to be the best in the league, but they have not been able to stop anyone. A big reason for this is that their defensive line has struggled to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

Talk about a comeback.
A week after Damien Harris lost the New England Patriots the game against the AFC East rival Miami Dolphins, the running back returned in Week 2 to stamp his team’s dominance over the New York Jets with a dominating 25-6 victory. The Patriots’ win was highlighted by Harris’ explosive and relentless 26-yard touchdown run.
Harris didn’t break the 100-yard running barrier like he did last week in the defeat, but he did achieve two things against the Dolphins that he failed to do. He scored a touchdown and helped his team win the game.
Every week, he’d probably swap the 100-yard game for the 62 he had against the Jets, as well as the touchdown and the win. As you would imagine, Harris’ beast-mode run sparked outrage on Twitter.
Twitter Reacts to Harris’ Massive Run
To portray Harris’ ruthless possession of the Jets’ defense on the TD run, NESN’s Adam Pellerin was inspired to make a comparison to Marvel Comics’ The Incredible Hulk.
This is one of my all-time favorite Marvel movie moments.
Butch Stearns of Boston 25 Sports marveled at Harris’ run, but he also saw rookie quarterback Mac Jones getting involved in the play’s conclusion.
Take a look at Stearns’ tweet; that’s Jones pushing the pile across the finish line to secure the touchdown. In the most flattering meaning of the word, the rookie quarterback is a football player.
Given Harris’ catastrophic fumble last week against the Dolphins, WPRI’s Taylor Begley realized how significant this run was for him.
Sports Illustrated’s Mike D’Abate praised Harris’ “toughness,” but he also pointed out an essential aspect of the play. On this stretch, the Jets missed almost 1,000 tackles. Sorry for the exaggeration, and I’m not trying to diminish Harris’ efforts, but there were several missed chances on this play.
Harris demonstrates TOUGHNESS! And he deserved to have his name capitalized.

The ExPoint is much missed…

Doug Farrar of USA Today noted a comparable effort by Demetric Felton of the Cleveland Browns, which occurred nearly concurrently with Harris’ run.
Which was the superior option?
After a difficult first week, Harris showed tremendous resiliency. We shouldn’t be surprised he performed well after hearing his remarks after the fumble.
Damien Harris Discussed Recovering From His Week One Fumble
Harris was a guest on WEEI’s Gresh and Keefe Show, where he discussed what he needed to do to get back on track after the fumble that lost the Patriots the game against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1.
According to Harris:
It was a disaster. Obviously, you don’t want to lose, but there’s still a lot more football to be played. You can’t spend too much time thinking about what occurred before. It happened in the past. That was last Sunday, and this week we have a new task. We’re facing a fantastic New York Jets team, so we’re just trying to focus on the future and see what we can learn from last week so we can become better.
Way to look forward, and we can all agree that the progress was noticeable.
